New company Cefetra Dairy BV founded:

BayWa business division Cefetra Group enters the dairy products trade

Rotterdam/Munich, 18 November 2021 – BayWa’s business division Cefetra Group has entered the dairy products trade: Since 1 November, the international agricultural trade specialist has been offering its customers a wide range of dairy products such as cheese, butter and milk powder as well as milk alternatives under Cefetra Dairy. For the Cefetra Group, one of the largest European importers of cereal and oil meals, this is another important step in its diversification strategy.

“In many parts of the world, the demand for dairy products is high. They therefore have great potential for trade,” says Prof. Klaus Josef Lutz, Chairman of the Board of Management of BayWa AG. “With our decision to also establish Cefetra Group in the dairy industry, we are making an important contribution to meeting consumer demands for a balanced diet around the globe – especially in those countries where demand exceeds local production capacities.”

Daan Vriens, CEO of Cefetra Group, says:. “Our roots are in supplying ingredients to animal feed producers which we complemented with specialty feed and food ingredients over the last years. We will use this firm foundation to further expand our offering in the coming years. Our goal is to strengthen Cefetra Group further as a leading trader of high-quality ingredients to the food and animal nutrition industry. Cefetra Dairy trades products that fit very well with our long-term goals and other recently acquired businesses within our group.”

According to Peter ten Kate, managing director of Cefetra Dairy, the new entity’s business model complements Cefetra Group’s strategy and underlines its openness to new markets and long-term trading opportunities. “We will now gradually build a strong trading team and intensify our supplier and customer network.”
